Topic: Establishing and Enforcing Wage Parity
Between Genders
Country: Mexico
Delegate: Isabella Perches
Committee: Commission of the
Status of Women
Nowadays, parity between genders affects several things
in the world including all human behavior. Men
tend to work longer hours, and women tend to help around the house and spend
time educating their children. Women enjoy educating their children but would
appreciate the opportunity to work and to make money by their own and men
educate their children too. But the problem here is that employers are not
being equal in the aspect of the compensations of women and man. When women get the opportunity to work, they work harder or the
same and they don’t receive the same salary as men. People think that women and
men are not the same, and that they don’t have equal value, they don’t give
that much importance to women. If we reduce the discrimination or the gender
inequality women’s rights would rise and poverty between families could
decrease. This shouldn’t be a problem for men since their economic class would raise.
In some countries like Saudi Arabia people are not paying women a good salary
and they dot have enough money to live. Saudi Arabia is doing their best to let
know all of their people what is going on and give the chance to women to have
a better value.
Mexico is completely in favor to
accomplish quality between genders. They have problems in the equal pay gap. They
don’t give that importance to women and they don’t give the same salary .My
delegation position is that they are in favor of gender equality for the
citizens are not following it. They are not respecting women rights. Women in Mexico face considerable discrimination and
problems in the workplace, and they are earning less than their male partners.
The poor employment in Mexico and their opportunities for women, force many of
them to migrate overseas, where they gain low-paid employment because if they
stay here, they wont have enough money to live or to take care of them.
My delegation strongly suggests
eliminating gender inequality and decreasing women’s reliance on informal
employment and closing gender gaps, also it is to increase women’s share of
seats in national parliaments and local government bodies. We need to combat
violence against girls and women. The best thing we could do is to but
advertisements all over the streets to let everyone know the problem in which
we are in, and the ways to stop it. We also need to set gender inequality
issues as a priority in many public agendas.
